How to Request an Interlibrary Loan

Squires Library provides access to books and journal articles unavailable in the university's own collection through interlibrary loans. If we do not have a resource you need, we will try and locate it at another library. Our Interlibrary Loan Coordinator will notify you via email when your item arrives.

To request a resource through ILL, please complete the Interlibrary Loan Request Form.

FAQs about Interlibrary Loans

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is resource sharing.  An Interlibrary Loan is a transaction in which library resources, or a copy of the resource, are made available by one library to another upon request.  Our interlibrary loan services enable eligible borrowers to access resources not owned by Squires Library. When you submit an interlibrary loan request, we attempt to borrow or obtain a copy of the needed material from another library.

What type of resources are available?

  • Books

  • Chapters from books and ebooks

  • Articles from journals, newspapers, and magazines

  • Dissertations

  • Musical scores

  • Audiovisual materials

Who can request an interlibrary loan, and how many requests are allowed?

Faculty, staff, and students from Lee University and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary may request interlibrary loan materials. Patrons can request up to 5 requests per day.

How do I request resources through interlibrary loan?

Before requesting a loan, please check to be certain the item you want is not available at Squires Library by checking both the library's online catalog and databases.

To request an interlibrary loan, you may fill out the Interlibrary Loan Request Form.

How much does it cost?

Our interlibrary loan services are FREE for almost all requests.

When can I expect the materials?

Depending on the location of requested items and the method of delivery, loans usually arrive within 5-10 days. Chapter scans and journal articles generally arrive electronically in 1-2 days.

You will be notified when the requested resource arrives. For copies, you will receive an email with details for accessing the document.  For loans, you must check the materials out from the information services desk at Squires Library.

How can I renew my Interlibrary Loan materials?

To renew loans of physical materials, please email the ILL office at ill@leeuniversity.edu. The ILL coordinator will submit a renewal request to the lending library.  Once a response is received, you will receive an email notifying you if the extension was granted.

Digital documents, such as article and chapter copies, do not need to be renewed or returned but must be downloaded within 30 days of receipt.
