About Michael

Just a bit about me -  I grew up the the Florida Keys - went to college for my BS in Psychology in West Palm Beach - later obtained my MIS from Florida State University and in 1995 was hired to start at Lee on January 3rd, 1996.  It has been, and continues to be, a journey of experiences in which I pick up newly learned things on the way.  Now, I am a Research Coach for McNair Scholars and LEAP students – and others as well.  I love assisting students in anyway possible. Therefore, my role of working with students is a blessing to me.

The McNair Scholars Program will work with 25 juniors and seniors annually to help them prepare for graduate school. The program provides eligible undergraduate participants with summer research internships guided by Lee faculty mentors, seminars, conference travel, presentation opportunities, and assistance obtaining financial support for graduate education.

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology – minor in Theology from Palm Beach Atlantic University;
  • My masters degree is in Information Science from Florida State University;
  • The PhD was years later, and I did that at University of Tennessee Knoxville, in Instructional Design & Technology
  • A few years after completing my PhD, I decided to join Lee University’s TESOL program – where I obtained my TESOL Certification.

Obviously, learning is something that I enjoy.  I would like to be one that cultivates the same interests in students at Lee. My objective is to help students on a daily basis to move forward and to do so with excellence.

My top five strengths are:
  • Learner
  • Achiever
  • Restorative
  • Input
  • Positivity
